Spent 4 days hiking around “The Big Ditch” last week with Crooklyn’s-own, Ben Rose and Lucien Perry. For much of the time we were in the canyon’s backcountry - with few amenities other than rivers, creeks, trees, and the occasional shit-house. When we retired to our tents, a typical night ended with Ben re-telling classic movies, complete with in-depth character analysis. And when I say “in-depth” I mean it - this dude went in on the narrations! But, like, hilarious - kinda drunk history style if you know what I mean. Knowing each evening would end with a “movie” definitely made the intense bits of the trails more tolerable. While in the canyon, we heard Deliverance, Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure, Uncle Buck - and on the last night of our hike we were even treated to a Kurt Russell double-feature of Big Trouble in Little China and Overboard.
Pretty classic trip - probably the most physically exhausted I’ve felt, but super amazing.
